The Frank Barham Quintet

Late Show begins at 9:30pm
This band is ON FIRE!  Jazz/blues harpist Frank Barham is joined by Emrah Kotan (India Arie's drummer), Count M'Buto (Percussion) and James Schneider (Piano).  Born in Memphis, Tn. and raised in Durham, N.C., the blues have been a big influence on the music of Frank Barham. Bluesmen like Howlin’ Wolf, Little Walter and James Cotton motivated Frank to pick up the harmonica in the beginning. A love of jazz, R&B and specifically Toots Thielemans and Stevie Wonder led to Frank’s ultimate pursuit of the chromatic harmonica. His song list includes tunes by jazz greats Wayne Shorter, Miles Davis, and Herbie Hancock; bossas by Jobim and Bonfi, blues by John Coltrane and Ben Tucker. Mix the fluidiity of Toots Thielemans, the funk of Stevie Wonder and the rawness of Howlin’ Wolf and you’ll find key elements in the unique sound of Frank Barham.
