I'm a true Euro-Southerner. I was born and raised in Europe and am a longtime Atlanta resident. In addition to being a professional writer I am an arts administrator, arts in education professional and a non-profit marketing specialist. I'm the former publicist for Peter Tork of the Monkees and the editor for his advice column, "Ask Peter Tork" (2007-2010).
I started my career in Atlanta in professional theatre and worked in that field for many years (PR and Marketing, costume designer, managing director, stage manager and tour manager) before a brief foray into TV and film (casting) and later happily added journalism to my career gumbo.
I have written about music, theatre, film, business, food, wildlife, animal rescue, professional wrestling, pop culture and travel and have interviewed celebrities including actor/writer/director Christopher Guest and comedian Tim Meadows of SNL along with various authors and musical artists.
I blog about music, art and artists in all disciplines at Arts In America.
My articles have been published in The Atlanta Journal and Constitution, The Native American Times, Creative Loafing , Mental Floss, The Walton Sun, Aquarius, The Community Review, The Signal, and Cobb Life and Cherokee Life magazines, among others.
In 2008 I placed third in the Mona Schreiber Literary Prize for Humorous Fiction and Nonfiction. In 2010 I won first prize in the Atlanta Writer’s Club Spring Writing Contest in the Religious/Spiritual/Inspirational catagory for "Lead On, Angel Of Hope".
I am a survivor of Hurricane Katrina.
Also am the proud pet parent of 4 rescued animals and 6 sassy urban chickens!
