I am a board certified gastroenterologist practicing in the South Forsyth County Johns Creek, GA area.  I am a specialist in gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition.

I came to the Duluth/ Johns Creek area in 1997.  In 2004 I moved my practice to Johns Creek Technology park.  The practice has grown since then.  We are now the premier consulting Gastroenterology and Hepatology practice in Johns Creek and the surrounding areas and participate exclusively with Emory Johns Creek Hospital.  We have offices in Johns Creek, Cumming and Hamilton Mill.  We see patients from all over the Southeastern United States and have many patients who return on a yearly basis from across the country.

My initial specialty training was in liver disease followed by a fellowship in gastroenterology.  I started treating patients as a fellow in liver disease for Hepatitis C before there was any approved treatment by the FDA.  Since 1992 I have treated hundreds of patients on most treatment protocols.  I am considered a thought leader and leading clinician in the field of Viral hepatiis treatment based on my extensive clinical experience.

In 2002, my interest turned to treatment of Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis.  I opened one of the first office based Remicade infusion centers in the Southeast.  I have successfully treated hundreds of patients with biologic agents including Remicade, Humira and Cimzia.  I have been asked to speak to numerous groups on the use of these agents on a national level.

In addition to our ever growing practice of general luminal gastroenterology, colon cancer screening, functional bowel disease and peptic ulcer and gastroesophageal reflux disease, I have developed an expertise in the evaluation and treatment of patients with Dysmetabolic Syndrome and Insulin resistance.  My interest grew from my experience evaluating and treating patients with elevated liver enzymes due to Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and steatohepatitis.  As time has gone on we have come to understand the role of insulin resistance, hypogonadism in men and vitamin D deficiency in these patients.  The need to correct metabolic and physiologic problems combined with diet and exercise.  Due to my work in low testosterone patients, I have been an invited speaker to groups wanting to understand more about this problem that is just gaining attention on a national level.

My practice consists of myself and three other physicians, Dr. Dimple Raina, Dr. Long Nguyen and Dr. Ed LeVert.  Between us we offer a full spectrum of GI and liver disease consultations and procedures including: Colon cancer screening, evaluation and treatment of all forms of viral hepatitis (B and C), Cirrhosis, Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis, functional bowel problems, heartburn, reflux, and various other GI and liver related problems.

In our office and our dedicated outpatient endoscopy center we offer state of the art endoscopy and colonoscopy, abdominal ultrasound, hydrogen breath testing for carbohydrate malabsorption, small bowel bacterial overgrowth and H. pylori infection.  We also have our own Remicade infusion center.  We have recently added Bone Density testing via DEXA scan with FRAX (vertebral fracture risk index) due to the risk of osteopenia and osteoporosis in patients exposed to steroids and those taking long term proton pump inhibitors (omeprazole, pantoprazole, and lansoprazole to name a few).

I am a medical expert blogger for Patch.  My home Patch is Johns Creek but I look forward to expanding my audience to the surrounding areas including Roswell, Dacula, and Snellville.  Check back for further updates.
