Grab a book and snack and relax at one of Johns Creek's parks.
Today you’re going to grab some snacks and something to drink, a book, maybe your iPod, a blanket, some sunscreen, pack up the car — like you’ve done many times before — only difference is this time you’re ALONE! No kids. Once you get there why not leave everything in the car and take a nice long walk. Take in the wonderful sounds and smells of nature while letting your mind drift away. Hear the birds calling to one another? Only happy and hopeful thoughts allowed. Now, feeling relaxed and peaceful it’s time to take out the blanket, snacks and that book. It’s time to totally immerse yourself — you deserve it! Grab a good, used book at Once & Again Books or Goodwill, or at Ocee Library or the Spruill Oaks branch, and relax at one of the …

Spend your time helping out at Angels Among Us.
Did you ever want to give of yourself? Have you ever thought of volunteering as an escape? Maybe I’ve just planted a new seed in your thoughts. According to the thesaurus, a few synonyms for the word "escape" are: getaway, liberate, elude. Think of it — when you get lost in giving of yourself to another being, caring for him/her, even the cleaning up, when you focus on one thing, isn’t that escaping? So escape and become an angel and share unconditional love with an orphaned animal. This is an escape in which you can share with anyone but, in reality, it’s something that is sincerely personal. And we have a great rescue organization nearby — Angels Among Us Pet Rescue, right here in Johns Creek. The non-profit rescues animals from high-…

Grab your girlfriends and go out for a night at the movies.
It’s girlfriend time! The plan: You and your BFF are going to leave the kids in the loving care of your spouse, a grandma, aunt, whomever you choose, and do what you both have talked about for weeks now, go to the movies and out for a cuppa afterwards. So, with the declaration of “no more talking, let’s just do it!” you head on out to a movie at Regal Cinemas Medlock Bridge Crossing and then, to discuss the movie and not rush back home, you’re stopping off at Starbucks for a relaxing cup of coffee. Getting to the movie a little while before it starts you both head on over to the concession stand to get popcorn and a drink (must haves). Afterwards, off to Starbucks just across the parking lot to talk about the movie, which you thoroughly …

Grab some ‘me’ time and unleash your creative side.
We all know how our day-to-day lives are filled with the blessings of parenthood, and for some of us this includes a job/career with little or no time for “me, the person.” Aren't you wishing for just a small amount of time to unleash your creative juices? Cocktails & Canvas/Creatively Yours, right here in Johns Creek, might be just the perfect place to unleash your creative instincts. All you need is a desire to express yourself through art — no experience necessary. The classes are all instructor-led and based on the day’s selection. Go ahead, grab some “me, the person” time, along with a snack and a drink (cocktails and wine if you wish) and, if you don’t want to go it alone, grab your BFF (partners included). And enjoy! Two-hour …
