'Great Gatsby' is playing this weekend in Johns Creek.
Leonardo DiCaprio stars in Baz Luhrmann's take on "The Great Gatsby," which is at times more style than substance – just like like the novel's main character himself – say some critics. "The Great Gatsby" is rated PG-13 and runs two hours and 22 minutes. It is now playing at Regal Cinemas Medlock Crossing in Johns Creek. For more theater information, show times and pricing, click the link above. Here's what else the critics are saying: Baz Luhrmann’s new film version of The Great Gatsby is stylish, slick, funny and entertaining—a bit detached at points, a bit overblown at others. That should be all that matters. — Jeremy Mathews, Paste Magazine Just because a film looks like it was dipped in 18-karat gold doesn’t mean it’s rich in quality…

One critic calls the Tyler Perry produced comedy, "a long, boring buildup that finally pays off with scattered laughs in the second half."
The premise, courtesy of the film's official website: Sparks fly when Wade Walker (Craig Robinson) crashes the preppy Peeples annual reunion in the Hamptons to ask for their precious daughter Grace's (Kerry Washington) hand in marriage. See 'Peeples' at Regal Cinemas Medlock Crossing in Johns Creek. For more theater information, show times and pricing, click the link above. Wade might be a fish-out-of-water among this seemingly perfect East Coast clan, but he’s not about to let himself flounder. Instead, in a wild weekend of fun, dysfunction and hilarious surprises, Wade is about to discover there’s room for all kinds of Peeples in this family, no matter their differences. Writer and first-time director Tina Gordon Chism (writer of "…

'Iron Man 3' is playing this weekend in Johns Creek.
Robert Downey Jr. and gang are back for the third "Iron Man" installment. "Iron Man 3" is rated PG-13 and runs two hours and 20 minutes. It is now playing at Regal Cinemas Medlock Crossing in Johns Creek. For more theater information, show times and pricing, click the link above. Here's what the critics are saying: This weekend, the summer movie season kicks off in spectacular fashion . . . with Disney and Marvel's "Iron Man 3." The third film in the series and the fourth featuring national treasure Robert Downey Jr. as genius billionaire playboy-philanthropist Tony Stark (after last summer's superhero free-for-all "The Avengers"), it raises the stakes considerably, to the point that, should RDJ never want to put on the robotic suit again…

It's blood, blood and more blood in the remake of Sam Raimi's 1981 cult classic.
See "Evil Dead" at Regal Cinemas Medlock Crossing. In the much-anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, five 20-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival. Here's what critics are saying: Despite numerous visual winks to the original, (Director Fede) Alvarez sacrifices its camp, crass humor for lashings of slick, sick gore. Hard-core fans may love it. But, much like those demons, it’s rather soulless. — James Mottram, The National 'Evil Dead' has a gleeful exuberance of its own analogous to the mad invention of the …

There's a thriller on the loose and a chilling indictment of the nation's pharmaceutical industry.
Editor's note: "Side Effects" is playing at Regal Cinemas Medlock Crossing in Johns Creek. Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh is behind this thriller that shows you what can happen when prescription medications like antidepressants go haywire in "Side Effects." Rooney Mara plays a woman with a lot going on in her life. Her husband, Channing Tatum, is getting out of prison. She's in a financial crisis and in deep depression. Her psychiatrist, Jude Law, subscribes an experimental new drug at the request of another medical colleague played by Catherine Zeta-Jones. While on the drug, Mara's character sleepwalks her way into a murder, and from there we go on a thriller roller-coaster ride. There is a surprise ending to this film so I will…

The latest zombie movie out shows you that you don't have to have a pulse to fall in love
Editor's note: "Warm Bodies" is playing at Regal Medlock Crossing in Johns Creek. Good girl meets ghoul in the latest romantic comedy called "Warm Bodies." Nicholas Hoult plays a teenage zombie slacker who falls head over heels in love with Teresa Palmer, who is very much alive. Somehow the chemistry between the two works even though the flirting can be a bit awkward. You never really know what thoughts are lurking behind that blank stare, but enough about non-zombie supporting cast member John Malkovich. "Warm Bodies" is a fun little film that has successfully mashed up a romantic comedy, slapstick and cheese. The teenage and Twilight film crowd should eat it up, even though it lacks brains. (drum roll). The flick-o-meter gives "Warm …

Arnold is on the screen, so you know what to expect – bullets and action.
Editor's note: "The Last Stand" is playing in Johns Creek at Regal Medlock Crossings. Arnold is back from being a two-term governor to playing a small-town sheriff. Arnold Schwarzenegger plays a semi-retired sheriff in an sleepy southwest border town. He and his motley crew must now stop a notorious drug kingpin from escaping into Mexico in "The Last Stand." The bullets fly. There is plenty of action. But the star looks a bit rusty. You quickly come to the realization that this film is undeniably ludicrous. Look, Arnold has never been a good actor, but it's a bit worse since he got back from being the "Governator." So what does he do to make up for his lack of talent? Cue an explosive montage! This movie is simply a testosterone-infused …

A group of pretty-boy cops goes all "gangsta" to take down a mob boss who looks a lot like Spicoli from "Fast Times at Ridgemont High."
Editor's note: "Gangster Squad" is playing at Regal Cinemas Medlock Crossings in Johns Creek. Click here for times and tickets. A Chicago gangster moves out to Los Angeles, killing his way to the top, only to be met by a few honest cops in "Gangster Squad." Sean Penn overacts as the main bad guy while the good guys include Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Giovanni Ribisi, Anthony Mackie, Robert Patrick, Michael Pena and Nick Nolte. The undercover spy femme fatale is Emma Stone in this wildly ridiculous, over-the-top movie. I couldn't tell if the film wanted to be a serious gangster drama (circa 1940s) or an action-adventure film for kids. It's trying to be more like "The Untouchables" but ends up more like "Dick Tracy." The Flick-O-Meter gives "…

In theaters this week, an impossible journey to the core of the human heart in the true life story of a family swept away in one of the worst natural disasters in our lifetime.
Editor's note: "The Impossible" is playing at Regal Cinemas Medlock Crossings in Johns Creek. A family of five begin their winter vacation in Thailand, looking for some fun in the sun. Soon their holiday turns into a nightmare as a giant tsunami rises up from the ocean and sweeps them away in "The Impossible." Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor head up this cast that tells the true story of one family's experience during the devastating 2004 tsunami that devoured Southeast Asia. The acting, though there is very little dialogue, is amazing and the special effects, especially in the first 45 minutes, are mind-boggling. Watts is being considered for an Oscar for her performance but the kids, in my opinion, steal every scene in which they appear. …
