The high school reported problems of undue influence at the school to the Georgia High School Athletic Association.
UPDATED 11:10 a.m. Milton High School boys basketball coach resigned after the school self reported allegations of "undue influence" in its boys" basketball program. David Boyd resigned from the Fulton County Schools system on Monday, Sept. 10, according to Samantha Evans, Fulton Schools' spokesperson. "Milton High self-reported allegations of what the Georgia High School Association terms 'undue influence' in its boys' varsity basketball program," Evans said. Johns Creek's defense managed to control a Milton offense that couldn't score in the second half.
The Johns Creek Gladiators kept the Milton Eagles in check for the entire second half to go on to victory, 14-9 on Friday, Sept. 7. The Eagles did score first by sacking the Gladiators' quarterback in the end zone for a safety, making it 2-0. They immediately followed that up with a touchdown on the drive that followed. Taking advantage of great field position after Johns Creek had to kick from deep in their own territory after suffering the safety, Milton quickly made it 9-0. But that was the last score for the Eagles. Johns Creek was able to put together two unanswered scoring drives in the second half as Milton couldn't contain the Gladiators on the outside. Region 6-AAAAA rivals battle in high-scoring game.
Milton had most of its offensive success with the ground game in Friday's Region 6-AAAAA game at Northview, but it was a long pass play that secured the Eagles' 42-30 win. Quarterback Colin McElroy completed a late 80-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Jenkins as the Eagles won in a game that saw both teams move the ball up and down the field. Four different players scored rushing touchdowns — including two by Peyton Barber — before the Eagles (2-5 overall, 1-2 Region 6-AAAAA) put the game away with the long pass play. Northview quarterback Evan Jacks accounted for all four of his team's touchdowns as the Titans (2-6, 1-3) stayed in the game despite trailing 28-10 at one point. whatever school they played for the Championships should receive the trophy and the rings. GHSA should pay for them for allowing this to happen. I feel for the kids at Milton, you just don't bring kids "from the other side of the track" or anywhere just to receive schlorships and to receive Championships. Whatever happened to "Academics" What happened to teaching children "morals".   more ›
