As far as its budget goes, Johns Creek is "holding steady" financially, Mayor Mike Bodker told some 200 folks attending his State of the City address at the Atlanta Athletic Club on Friday. But, "if we don't work on economic development in this city, we're going to be in trouble," Bodker later added. He pointed to "Johns Creek Advantage," an economic development plan by the Johns Creek Chamber of Commerce and the Johns Creek Economic Development Corporation. He urged business to support the program, which has a goal of hiring staff to promote the city, and would work to attract new businesses while providing services to existing business in the city. Johns Creek Mayor Mike Bodker continued a December tradition this week with his "Conversation With the Community" town hall-style gathering at Perimeter Church. He told some 50 audience members that the city is in the early stages of looking into obtaining a loan to address neighborhood infrastructure needs. With the city "$38 million in the hole" as far as road resurfacing goes, a loan would help fix roads inside neighborhoods. All roadwork in the city so far is focused on main thoroughfares outside of subdivisions. Johns Creek Mayor Mike Bodker will host a Town Hall meeting on Monday, Dec. 3, at Perimeter Church. All are welcome to attend. The Town Hall, entitled “A Conversation with the Community,” runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. In the meeting, the mayor will talk about issues confronting the city and answer questions from the audience. “Town hall meetings are really a cornerstone for good communication,” Bodker said. “I use the term, 'conversation with the community' because it suggests collaboration between the public and the government, to share information and offer possible solutions,” said Bodker. “These meetings allow us to do that and to really discuss things in a way that is simply not possible during more formal meetings.” To allow for more …

Johns Creek Mayor Mike Bodker will host a Town Hall Meeting on March 22 at Johns Creek United Methodist Church. All are welcome. "A Continuing Conversation with the Community" will cover a wide range of issues. Emailing questions to Mike.Bodker@JohnsCreekGA.gov will allow for more detailed answers, although questions will also be accepted on the evening of the event. The meeting runs from 7 to 9 p.m. in Room 207 at Johns Creek United Methodist Church, 11180 Medlock Bridge Road.

Some 200 members of the Johns Creek community turned out Friday morning at the Atlanta Athletic Club to hear Mayor Mike Bodker's annual State of the City address. "We started the movement for the city of Johns Creek back in 2004," Bodker said. "It was a fascinating and exciting time for many of us. . . . I believe that now — entering our sixth year of cityhood, we can say we did the right thing and honestly — things are better." Bodker pointed to some positive news regarding the economy and development within the city. While the city saw its fourth year of declining revenue, that decline has slowed. In 2010 revenue slipped to $45,814,525 from $47,353,575 in 2009. In 2012 revenue was projected to fall to $44,854,452 fro $45,236,227 in 2011…
