Johns Creek Symphony String Quartet to Debut

Quartet's first recital is Thursday, May 2, at St. Benedict.

The Johns Creek Symphony's String Quartet will perform its debut recital in an intimate setting this week. The chamber music performance on Thursday, May 2, will take place at Taylor Lodge at St. Benedict. The quartet consists of violinists Adelaide Federici and Alison James, violist Cindy Beard and cellist Meghan McGuire. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased here. Proceeds benefit the orchestra's performance fund.

Swing Will be King at Johns Creek Symphony Concert

Big band production is this Saturday, April 13.

Swing will be king, promises the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra, when it brings its Symphonic Big Band concert to Johns Creek High this Saturday night. The 8 p.m. concert will feature works from the likes of George Gershwin, Glenn Miller, the Dorsey Brothers, Duke Ellington and Hoagy Carmichael. JCSO Invites You to a Night of Baroque & Classical Favorites

Join the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra as we present “Baroque & Classical Favorites!” on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 8 p.m. This exceptional night of music features selections from Mozart and C.P.E. Bach performed by our outstanding musicians under the direction of Maestro J. Wayne Baughman and spotlights a Young People’s Performance by the violin students of NATE – North Atlanta Talent Education Music Academy. These extremely talented young musicians will be performing the Vivaldi Concerto in A Minor, conducted by Maestro Baughman and accompanied by the JCSO. Orchestra to present Christmas Gala & Holiday Pops Concert, Saturday, Dec. 1.

Start the holiday season off right by joining the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra as it presents its 7th annual Christmas Gala & Holiday Pops Concert at St. Benedict Catholic Church. On Saturday, Dec. 1, at 8 p.m., join the full symphonic orchestra under the baton of Maestro J. Wayne Baughman, Tenor Adam Kirkpatrick, Nothin' But Treble, Georgia Tech's all female a cappella group, St. Benedict Adult Choir and a few surprises.  This year, the orchestra will be joined by Greg Talmadge, traffic reporter for ALL NEWS 106.7, as official Master of Ceremony. Johns Creek Foundation Funds Symphony Performance

The Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra says it is thankful for a grant from the Johns Creek Foundation that allowed it to perform a free concert for the community. Through grant funds provided by the Johns Creek Foundation, the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra was able to present a free concert during the Johns Creek Arts Festival on Oct. 27.   “The JCSO is honored to have the support of the Johns Creek Foundation, and make possible our ability to bring to the community some of the world's greatest music performed by some of the greater metro area's best professional musicians. Kids Invited to 'Meet the Orchestra'

Elementary and middle school students can learn from Johns Creek Symphony.

Elementary and middle school students in the Johns Creek area will have a chance to meet and learn from Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra musicians. “Meet the Orchestra!” takes place Oct. 4 at 6:30 p.m. at Wilson Creek Elementary School. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased either at the JCSO website or at Wilson Creek.   "It's a fun discovery of musical instruments, instrument families and how they all come together to form an orchestra," said Sue Haggerty, the orchestra's executive director. Children will learn what makes up a symphony orchestra. They will see and hear how strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion and timpani are played and how they fit into the orchestra seating chart. Johns Creek Grants $5,000 to Symphony

Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra granted funds for community outreach.

The Johns Creek City Council on Monday voted to award a $5,000 arts grant to the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra. While $30,000 had been factored into the FY 2012 budget for arts grants, the symphony was the only organization that met all criteria. According to Patty Hansen, chief of staff for the city, the symphony will use the money to publicize its events. "They did a very good job of coming within the bounds of [outreach] . . . letting citizens know what is available," she said. Two other organizations had requested funds, but one did not meet the criteria, and the other withdrew its application after it was sent back for review. Requested funds totaled $33,244. Johns Creek Symphony Announces Season 6

Season to kick off with free concert at Johns Creek Arts Festival.

A free autumn concert, a Christmas gala and an evening of classical music are just some of the highlights from the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra's upcoming sixth season. The orchestra kicks things off with a free concert at the Johns Creek Arts Festival on the grounds of the Atlanta Athletic Club on Saturday, Oct. 27 - "a weekend of the arts, fun and food with a Chastain-style concert right in the middle," says Executive Director Sue Haggerty.   On Saturday, Dec. 1 the orchestra looks to the holidays when it performs its annual Christmas Gala & Holiday Pops Concert at St. Benedict Church at 8 p.m. As tradition dictates, the music will include everything from Sleigh Ride to White Christmas, sacred and secular, performed by the JCSO and …
