Johns Creek Foundation Gives Grants to Northview, JC Arts Center

The money will be used to buy iPads and fund scholarships.

The Johns Creek Foundation Board of Directors recently presented grant awards to both the Johns Creek Arts Center and the Northview High School PTSA. The Johns Creek Arts Center, a 501c3 community arts organization, was founded with the purpose of bringing arts to a culturally lacking area of north Fulton County and since 1996 the center has provided a wide selection of art and theatre classes, camps, workshops, and outreach programs. The JCF grant will be used to help expand the center’s outreach efforts to include a greater number of children from underserved populations by subsidizing the shadow program and funding scholarships for the Summer Art Camp. Autrey Mill Journalism Program Gets a Boost

Johns Creek Foundation gives money to school for new media equipment.

The Johns Creek Foundation Board of Directors recently approved a grant application to Autrey Mill Middle School PTA for the school's fledgling video journalism program.  The school's program is an often-requested class by students and has begun to fill to capacity. The idea of the program began when Amy Creamer, Autrey Mill Middle School drama teacher, took over the morning news show. With the help of Jamie Chuven, video broadcast journalism teacher at Johns Creek High School, Creamer learned simple journalism and broadcasting techniques, and found the students embraced the program, the technology and equipment operation.  With morning broadcasts led by students, preparation of videos and the increasing evolution of technology, the need …

Local Schools Get Money From Johns Creek Foundation

Johns Creek Foundation presents $2,500 grants to Medlock Bridge, Taylor Road and River Trail.

The Johns Creek Foundation Board of Directors recently approved grants for $2,500 for three local school entities: Medlock Bridge Elementary Foundation, River Trail Middle School PTA and Taylor Road Middle School PTA.  The Medlock Bridge Elementary Foundation has a primary mission to secure donations for capital improvements at the school. Working closely with the school and the PTA, the school’s foundation requested grant funds to assist in the upgrading of the production studio equipment in the media center. The award-winning media center will continue to provide the teachers the ability to assist students in creating multimedia presentations and to provide an avenue to expose students to new technologies.  River Trail Middle School PTA …

Johns Creek Foundation Presents Grant to Nature Center

Autrey Mill will use funds to renovate exotic exhibit.

The Johns Creek Foundation Board of Directors recently presented an $8,025 grant to the Autrey Mill Nature Preserve, which plans to use the money to renovate one of its exhibits. The preserve has maintained for over a decade a collection of live animals that serve as teaching tools. Through its executive director and local craftsmen and carpenters, the preserve has designed a plan to offer the highest quality live animal exhibit in Johns Creek and the north metropolitan area. Johns Creek Foundation Funds Symphony Performance

Johns Creek Foundation presents grant to Johns Creek Symphony that allowed for free community concert.

The Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra says it is thankful for a grant from the Johns Creek Foundation that allowed it to perform a free concert for the community. Volunteers Honored at Annual Mayor's Ball

Local residents danced to the beat of the band Synergy and helped raise funds for the Johns Creek Foundation at the Mayor’s Ball held Oct. 19 at the Atlanta Athletic Club. Johns Creek Mayor Mike Bodker began his speech by sharing a secret about serving as mayor with the audience. “A lot of time you get your speeches two minutes before you make them,” he said. “I’ve had this one for five.” He recognized fellow members of the Johns Creek City Council, State Rep. Lynne Riley, State Sen. David Shafer, Fulton County Commissioner Liz Hausmann, city employees and members of the Johns Creek Foundation. Put on the glitz for a good cause when this year's Mayor's Ball benefits the Johns Creek Foundation. Held Friday, Oct. 19, at the Atlanta Athletic Club, the foundation will again partner with Emory Johns Creek Hospital for a “Puttin’ on the Glitz” celebration. JC Foundation Art Grant to Enrich Seniors

Foundation awards $7,200 for senior outreach programs.

The Johns Creek Foundation recently awarded the Johns Creek Arts Center $7,200 for senior outreach art programs. This grant will afford the Johns Creek Arts Center the opportunity to provide free art enrichment to seniors through quality art workshops that include ceramics, silk painting, mosaic and more to local senior assisted living centers and active adult communities. The centers are typically unable to afford these specialized art workshops, so this grant is an opportunity to provide their members with exposure to art, which is proven to be a great stress reducer with therapeutic benefits.
