Johns Creek Police Department releases March crime and accident statistics.

Each month the Johns Creek Police Department releases crime and incident statistics from the previous month in its newsletter Cops Connect. Here are February's numbers as published in the newsletter: Service calls: 6,823 Arrests: 92 Car break-ins: 13 Burglaries: 7 DUIs: 23 Traffic accidents: 175 The burglaries occurred at Eagle Glen, Rivermont, Lexington Woods, Kensington Oaks, Roswell Mill, 5980 State Bridge Road and 9275 Nesbit Ferry Road. Blotter: Silver Stolen From Home; Items Shoplifted from Ross, Walgreen's

The following information was supplied by the Johns Creek Police Department.

Burglary On April 11 a home on Hedgewick Trail was reported broken into. About $250 worth of loose silver was reported stolen. Shoplifting On April 9 a 31-year-old man was arrested and charged with shoplifting at Walgreen's on Kimball Bridge Road. The manager told police that he watched the man remove the price codes from less expensive merchandise and move them to more expensive merchandise to make fraudulent purchases. On April 13 a store manager at Ross on Medlock Bridge Road told police that a man wearing a Jamaican wig cut off a key used to remove security tags from items from the cash register. Johns Creek High On Lockdown Friday Morning

Schools on alert while shooting suspect apprehended.

Update, Friday, April 12, 10:30 a.m.: According to Lt. Chris Byers with the Johns Creek Police Department, the school lockdown occurred after a shooting at a nearby residence, "just a couple of driveways down." A man and woman were in a vehicle in the driveway, got into an argument, and the woman shot the man in the upper body. The man was transported to the hospital, where he is thought to be in good condition. According to police, the shooting had nothing to do with Johns Creek High and State Bridge Elementary, which was also placed on lockdown. Blotter: Men Damage Woman's Car After Offering to Fix It in Parking Lot

The following information was supplied by the Johns Creek Police Department.

Criminal Damage to Property On March 28 a woman told police that she was at Kroger at 10945 State Bridge Road when she was approached by a man soliciting auto body work who then damaged her vehicle. According to the police report, the woman attempted to back her vehicle from its parking space when a dark green, early-to-mid-2009s Honda Pilot blocked her way. A Hispanic man in his early 30s, around 5'10" and 200 pounds, got out of the Pilot and approached her claiming to work for "Alpharetta Toyota." He offered her a quote to fix some minor, pre-existing damage to the front of her vehicle. The woman told the man she would be interested in a quote. Blotter: House Broken Into; Trailer Stolen From Church

The following information was supplied by the Johns Creek Police Department.

Burglary On March 18 a home on Meuse Way was reported broken into while the residents were out of town. A back door was knocked in from the outside or possibly pried open, the police report stated. The deadbolt was still intact, but the frame was heavily damaged. An Apple laptop, vintage postage stamps, costume jewelry and possibly more items were stolen. Thefts On March 19 an employee at Hobby Lobby on State Bridge Road reported that someone stole four bales of cardboard valued at $464 from outside the store. On March 22 a utility trailer was stolen from the property of Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church on Nesbit Ferry Road. The trailer is owned by the church, but is registered to Boy Scout Troop 629, which is sponsored by the church. …

why does the JCPD not use the same stats as they used in their 2011 annual report? 4 traffice accidents a day, less then 1 dui a day, 3 arrests a day and an average of 6 service calls an hour constitute the heavy burden on the taxpayers of a force of 61 plus officers (all great people...but that said)etc . Blotter: Bike Stolen, Recovered After Confrontation

The following information was supplied by the Johns Creek Police Department.

Thefts On March 13 a man told police that he parked his bicycle at State Bridge Elementary School to go on a quick run, and when he returned the bike was gone. The victim said he began running east on State Bridge Road to try and find his bike. He said he saw a man riding his bike at the intersection of Medlock Bridge and State Bridge. The victim told police he confronted the man and told him he wanted his bicycle back. The suspect left the bicycle and began walking through the Publix shopping center at 5805 State Bridge Road. The victim said the suspect threatened to call his friends to fight the victim, who followed the suspect to Camden River Apartments. Police Need Help ID'ing Suspect in Theft of 89-Year-Old Johns Creek Man

Suspect has used checks at Walmart.

The Johns Creek Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in the theft of personal checks from an 89-year-old victim.   The suspect stole the checks sometime between Feb. 2 and Feb. 11 from the victim’s Johns Creek residence and has used them to make purchases at several metro-Atlanta Walmart stores, including Lilburn, Loganville, Lithonia and Rome.  Video surveillance from the stores show a white male purchasing items with the stolen checks.  It is believed that the suspect gained access to the elderly victim’s residence while working as a health care provider. Johns Creek Police Investigating Homicide

87-year-old found dead in January; Medical Examiner revises ruling on cause of death.

Johns Creek Police are now investigating an unattended death in January as a homicide after the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office revised its ruling on cause of death. Oliver Olin, 87, 18104 Harvest Ridge Lane, was found dead on Jan. 12 at his home by his daughter, who last saw him alive on Jan. 6. A medical examiner on the scene classified the cause of death as undetermined, but the Medical Examiner’s Office last week changed the ruling to homicide.  Anyone with information should call Atlanta Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS.

Blotter: Jeep Flees Scene After Car Broken Into

The following information was supplied by the Johns Creek Police Department.

Vehicle Break-Ins On Feb. 26 a vehicle on Seven Oaks Parkway was reported broken into. The victim told police that she was playing tennis and heard glass break and then saw a green Jeep Wrangler with a tan top speed away from the parking lot. A purse was stolen. The officer spoke to two witnesses, who said they did not see who broke into the car, but saw the green Jeep speed away from the scene. The officer reported that the same vehicle was used entering several autos along the McGinnis Ferry corridor. On Feb. 26 a vehicle parked at Johns Creek High School was reported broken into.
