Johns Creek Foundation Funds Symphony Performance

Johns Creek Foundation presents grant to Johns Creek Symphony that allowed for free community concert.

The Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra says it is thankful for a grant from the Johns Creek Foundation that allowed it to perform a free concert for the community. Through grant funds provided by the Johns Creek Foundation, the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra was able to present a free concert during the Johns Creek Arts Festival on Oct. 27.   “The JCSO is honored to have the support of the Johns Creek Foundation, and make possible our ability to bring to the community some of the world's greatest music performed by some of the greater metro area's best professional musicians. Johns Creek Arts Festival Draws Big Crowds

Two-day event debuted at the Atlanta Athletic Club fields this weekend.

Making its debut this year, the Johns Creek Arts Festival drew healthy crowds over Saturday and Sunday, with city officials estimating some 10,000 patrons on Saturday alone, based on car count. Hosted by the City of Johns Creek, the Johns Creek Convention & Visitors Bureau and Arts on the Creek, the event was a reincarnation of sorts over previous years' Arts on the Creek festivals. This year the city joined forces with the other hosts to make the festival bigger and better, hiring Splash Festivals to coordinate the event. "I'm so excited," said Heather Blanchard of the Johns Creek CVB. "We're already talking about next year." Festivities continue Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Day 1 of the city's first annual Johns Creek Arts Festival saw healthy crowds enjoying art vendors, food stands, live entertainment, a Kids Zone and a pet parade. The festival continues today, Saturday, through 6 p.m. followed by a free concert by the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra and fireworks tonight at 7. The fun starts all over again tomorrow, Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a children's parade at 11 and a jazz brunch.  The festival is taking place at the Atlanta Athletic Club fields. Johns Creek Arts Festival Debuts This Weekend

What you need to know to enjoy the city's first annual arts fest.

Debuting this weekend, the first annual Johns Creek Arts Festival will boast more than 120 artists showcasing and selling their wares to an expected to an expected 20,000 visitors. But it's not just about the art – "It will be an event for the entire family," Grant Hickey, the city's communication director, told Patch earlier this month. In addition to artists tents, food vendors will be on site, and an expansive Kids Zone will entertain children with artistic activities, rides and inflatables. Volunteer spaces still available for Oct. 27 & 28 festival.

The Johns Creek Arts Festival, debuting Oct. 27 and 28 on the Atlanta Athletic Club fields, is still in need of more than 100 volunteers. Positions that need to be filled are Staging and Zone Captains for Friday, Oct. 26, during set-up, Sunday, Oct. 27, during breakdown, helpers to assist artists with unloading Friday and loading again Sunday evening, and Parking Directors during the Saturday evening concert by the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra.   Signing up is easy. As Johns Creek gets ready for its first annual Arts Festival, the city's Communications Manager Grant Hickey and Chief of Staff Patty Hansen took time to tell Patch what's in store for the some 20,000 visitors expected to attend. Taking place over the Oct. 27-28 weekend, the city has partnered with Arts on the Creek, the Johns Creek Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Atlanta Athletic Club to build on the arts festival previously produced by Arts on the Creek that took place on Perimeter Church grounds. "We were looking for a way to take it to the next level, and make this a regional event," said Hansen. Event is Oct. 27 & 28 at Atlanta Athletic Club fields.

On Oct. 27 & 28, the first Johns Creek Arts Festival will debut at the west fields of the Atlanta Athletic Club. This city-sponsored event requires hundreds of volunteers to help with everything from checking in artists and sponsors, to coordinating the Children's Costume Parade, to providing logistical support for musical entertainment, making it one of the largest volunteer effort in Johns Creek's history. Splash Festivals, producer of the Norcross Art Fest and Dunwoody Art Festival, will produce the event with some 120 artists coming from across the country. More than 100 artists will be showcased at the first Johns Creek Arts Festival Oct. 27-28 on the historic Atlanta Athletic Club’s fields in Johns Creek. Bring your family and friends to enjoy art in all mediums, entertainment, food and children’s games. On Saturday night an outdoor concert featuring the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra (JCSO) is set for 7 p.m., followed by fireworks. The Johns Creek Foundation provided a grant to the JCSO to perform at the festival.
