Fine Art, Fresh Flowers to Benefit the Johns Creek Arts Center

‘Art in Bloom’ gala, exhibition set for March 21.

Experience art and flowers in a fresh way when the Johns Creek Arts Center presents the third annual "Art in Bloom," a celebration of timeless art interpreted by some of the Southeast’s most talented floral designers. Presented in collaboration with the Johns Creek Arts Center Guild, "Art in Bloom" follows the concept – established more than 30 years ago by Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts – of pairing the art of floral design with two-dimensional art pieces.   A benefit for the Johns Creek Arts Center, "Art in Bloom" opens with an exhibition and gala on Thursday, March 21, at 7 p.m. at Gallery Events, 10700 State Bridge Road in Johns Creek. Watercolor Show Coming to Johns Creek Arts Center

Top watercolor artists to exhibit at JCAC.

An enchanted world of exquisite landscapes, inspiring figurative work, glowing still lifes and vivid abstracts will captivate visitors this winter at the Johns Creek Arts Center. The occasion is the second annual Georgia Watercolor Society Signature Members ‘ Exhibition, which will take place from Jan. 26 through March 2. This exhibition will showcase recent work by Georgia Watercolor Society signature members.  A Signature Membership in the Georgia Watercolor Society is earned through acceptance and recognition in multiple juried competitions. Johns Creek Arts Center Gives Painting to City

The Johns Creek Arts Center this week donated a gift in the form of a painting to the City of Johns Creek. The work, depicting the historic Summerour House at Autrey Mill Nature Preserve & Heritage Center, was the winner of a contest that asked for art showcasing the City of Johns Creek. JC Foundation Art Grant to Enrich Seniors

Foundation awards $7,200 for senior outreach programs.

The Johns Creek Foundation recently awarded the Johns Creek Arts Center $7,200 for senior outreach art programs. This grant will afford the Johns Creek Arts Center the opportunity to provide free art enrichment to seniors through quality art workshops that include ceramics, silk painting, mosaic and more to local senior assisted living centers and active adult communities. The centers are typically unable to afford these specialized art workshops, so this grant is an opportunity to provide their members with exposure to art, which is proven to be a great stress reducer with therapeutic benefits. Arts Center Prepares for Annual 'Bowls' Event

Johns Creek Arts Center holding 'Bowls & Beyond' Oct. 20.

The Johns Creek Arts Center hosts its 5th annual “Bowls” event this fall. This fun-filled event has been revamped and renamed “Bowls & Beyond” and now includes bowls and a variety of pottery pieces such as platters, mugs and plates as well as small paintings.  Patrons who buy a piece of artwork will be able to sample the delicious barbecue served by volunteer cooks competing for votes. This family event also includes live music and takes place Saturday, Oct. 20, from 5 to 8 p.m. A presale that Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. for $5 per ticket (limited to 100 tickets) will allow patrons to pick of the best pottery and paintings. Juried Art Show to Dazzle on Thursday

Local artists on display at Johns Creek Arts Center.

Local talent will be on display when the Johns Creek Arts Center hosts its Arts on the Creek Juried Art Show this Thursday, Aug. 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. In addition to enjoying the art on display, visitors will be treated to light refreshments and drinks. The show will include painting, drawing, printmaking, mixed media, collage, photography and decorative and functional pottery. There will be a first place cash award of $500 for each of the following categories: Painting, Drawing, Photograph; and Ceramics. Visual arts pieces will be juried in by renowned artist Patrick Taylor and judged by Bob Ichter. The photographic arts judge is artist Debra Yaun, and the ceramics category winner will be chosen by AJ Argentina.

JCAC Pieces on Display at the Booth Museum

Campers' art will be on display on Aug. 25.

Each year the Johns Creek Arts Center partners with an established Atlanta institution during summer camp for cross-promotion and an opportunity for campers to make relevant and dramatic pieces of artwork for display at that institution.  This year the art center partnered with the Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville to tie in with the 2012 summer camp theme “Amazing America,” with sub-themes of Southwestern Art (Cowboys & Indians), the American Craft Movement (Folk Art), and American Pop & Modern Art. Various groups of campers created collaborative art pieces to represent the different themes. Johns Creek Artists Invited to Enter Show

Johns Creek Arts Center's 'Inspirations' juried art show will reflect the city's history.

The Johns Creek Arts Center will host the first “Johns Creek Inspirations” Juried Art Exhibition, with reception and awards being held on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 5 to 8 p.m. This year’s exhibition is to celebrate the five-year existence of the City of Johns Creek and invites artist Johns Creek residents to enter this show with a chance of having their piece bought by the Johns Creek Arts Center and presented to the City of Johns Creek for a permanent display in City Hall. Artwork in the following 2-D media will be accepted: painting, drawing, printmaking and collage.
