Johns Creek's Unemployment Rate Dips to 6.4%

The jobless rate dropped because of an increase in jobs and fewer new layoffs, which occurred across North Fulton and Metro Atlanta.

Johns Creek's unemployment rate dropped to 6.4 percent in March, two-tenths of a percent lower than the February rate. But that's more than 1 percent lower than the rate a year ago, when the city's jobless rate was at 7.5 percent. The Georgia Department of Labor announced today that metro Atlanta’s unemployment rate declined to 7.9 percent in March from 8.3 percent in February. The rate was 8.9 percent in March a year ago. The rate declined because of an increase in the number of jobs and fewer new layoffs. Johns Creek had 2,383 people who are counted as jobless in March, 98 fewer than in February. The number of people employed rose by 117, while the labor force increased by 19 people, up to 37,328 workers. A year ago Johns Creek's jobless…

Johns Creek Jobless Rate Drops; Alpharetta Remains Lowest in Area

Johns Creek's unemployment rate drops to 6.7 percent in November.

While Johns Creek's unemployment rate dropped this month, Alpharetta's jobless rate remained at 6 percent for a second straight month, the lowest rate of any city listed by the Georgia Department of Labor. Johns Creek had its unemployment rate drop by 0.2 of a percent, down to 6.7 percent in November. A year ago the unemployment rate was 7 percent. Roswell also saw its unemployment drop by 0.2 percent to 6.1 percent. A year ago in November 2011 it was recorded as 6.9 percent. The labor force in each of the North Fulton communities was slightly larger last month that it was in …

Alpharetta's Jobless Rate Lowest in Georgia, With Roswell Close Behind

Since Alpharetta's daytime population is almost double the number of people who live in the city, it's not really a surprise that the city had the lowest unemployment rate for October of any municipality in Georgia at 6.1 percent. That doesn't make the 1,926 city residents who were unemployed last month happy. The Georgia Department of Labor released labor force data today, and other North Fulton cities fared relatively well also. Roswell's 6.4 percent jobless rate was second out of the cities of 25,000 people or more that the department measures. Sandy Springs is just a tick away at 6.5 percent. Johns Creek had the highest rate in North Fulton at 7 percent, a drop of one-tenth, though that was far below East Point's 12.4 percent jobless …
