Milton Boys' Basketball Coach David Boyd Resigns

The high school reported problems of undue influence at the school to the Georgia High School Athletic Association.

UPDATED 11:10 a.m. Milton High School boys basketball coach resigned after the school self reported allegations of "undue influence" in its boys" basketball program. David Boyd resigned from the Fulton County Schools system on Monday, Sept. 10, according to Samantha Evans, Fulton Schools' spokesperson. "Milton High self-reported allegations of what the Georgia High School Association terms 'undue influence' in its boys' varsity basketball program," Evans said. "Due to these allegations, there will be a varsity boy's basketball coaching change." whatever school they played for the Championships should receive the trophy and the rings. GHSA should pay for them for allowing this to happen. I feel for the kids at Milton, you just don't bring kids "from the other side of the track" or anywhere just to receive schlorships and to receive Championships. Whatever happened to "Academics" What happened to teaching children "morals".   more ›

The matchups for the Georgia Dome next week are Walton vs. Grayson, AAAAA; Lovejoy vs. Tucker, AAAA; Burke County vs. Peach County, AAA; Calhoun vs. Buford, AA; and Savannah Christian vs. Landmark Christian, A. Our Buccanneers put a good fight tonight and done well. They showed Burke County what some real football was like. Burke has never had anyone put a score up on them like tonight. Playoff Matchups Set for 'Hooch, Johns Creek

Both teams host first-round games in the Georgia High School Association playoffs.

It’s playoff time in Johns Creek next week, with Chattahoochee and Johns Creek high schools both hosting first-round games in the Class AAAA football tournament. Chattahoochee and Johns Creek finished 1-2 in Region 7-AAAA and will host teams from 8-AAAA. Chattahoochee, the defending state champ, has Habersham Central, 8-AAAA’s fourth-place team. The Cougars, which beat Rome 21-14 Friday to secure the 7-AAAA title, are 9-1 overall. Johns Creek, also 9-1, beat Forsyth Central 44-14 Friday and will play Flowery Branch in the first round. Flowery Branch is the No. 3 seed from 8-AAAA. You can find the complete football playoff brackets on the Georgia High School Association website.

King's Ridge Holds Off Mt. Pisgah to Win in Overtime, 20-14

The Tigers scored the first two TDs, but allowed the Patriots to come back for a tie.

A key interception in the end zone late in regulation preserved a tie for the King's Ridge Christian Tigers, who were celebrating homecoming in a regional battle against the Mt. Pisgah Patriots. That allowed the home team to take a 20-14 win in overtime. The Tigers scored first in a game marred by penalties. At least one touchdown and several long runs off sweeps or pass receptions were called back because of penalties. Mt. Pisgah Head Coach Doug Dixon said many of his players made great plays, but the defense kept the team in the game. King's Ridge Head Coach Jeff Pickren said it was a game with many key plays, but perhaps the most important was the interception Jason Mccoy made in the end zone as Mt.
