Johns Creek's Jobless Rate Sticks to 7%

January's unemployment rate was a little better than the Georgia Department of Labor originally thought, at 6.9%.

Johns Creek's unemployment rate rose to 7 percent in February, with 2,628 people who were jobless. While that figure is not as good as rates for Alpharetta or Roswell, it's much better than the metro Atlanta or Georgia unemployment rates by mroe than a full percentage point. The jobless rate was revealed to have been a tiny bit better in January at 6.9 percent in revised figures also released today by the Georgia Department of Labor. The North Fulton city had 2,628 people unemployed last month, 21 fewer than in January. The labor force dipped by 81 people as well. This could be because those workers have been out of work for so long they are no longer counted as looking for work, or some of them may have moved out of the city. City…

Johns Creek's Jobless Rate Still 7 Percent

One out of every 14 people in the North Fulton city's labor force is out of work.

Johns Creek's revised unemployment figures for December 2012 were a tenth of a percent lower than originally estimated, but the January 2013 lost that gain and the cit's jobless rate fell to 7 percent. The city's labor force dropped slightly to 37,644, not quite offsetting the loss of jobs by 140 people. But things were worse a year ago when  the city's unemployment was even higher at 7.3 percent. Johns Creek's labor force was calculated at 37,644, with 2,628 of those people counted among the jobless. That works out to approximately 1 out of every 14 people in the local labor force being out of a job.
