Johns Creek Runner Scores State Awards

State champion Allie Buchalski named Gatorade Georgia Girls Cross Country Runner of Year.

Johns Creek High School senior and Cross Country State Champion Allie Buchalski has been awarded the 2013 Gatorade Georgia Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding athletic excellence as well as high standards of academic achievement and character. The Gatorade Player of the Year program annually recognizes and awards one National Player of the Year in each of 12 sports. Past winners of this award include Ryan Hall, Derek Jeter, Candace Parker, Abby Wambach and Mark Sanchez.  Buchalski was also named the Atlanta Track Club’s Ray Buckley Award winner as Georgia’s Female Runner of the Year. Pisgah Cross Country Teams Finish 4th at GHSA Championships

Best finish for both teams since program began.

The Mount Pisgah boys and girls cross country teams both finished fourth on Saturday in the GHSA Class A Private School Championships. This was the best finish for both teams since the varsity programs began in 2004. Senior Katie Strawinski led the girls finishing in eighth place overall with a time of 20:12. Junior Shane Sullivan paced the boy's squad, finishing 10th overall with a time of 16:46. “Coach [Anthony] Keeton and I couldn't have asked more of either team today,” said head coach Susan Reilly after the race. “Both our boys and girls knew what a privilege it was to be compared to the other successful cross country programs in Class A. Patriot Cross Country Teams Ranked in Top 5

Both Pisgah cross country squads in top 5 of Milesplit rankings.

The Mount Pisgah cross country teams broke into the top five in the latest Milesplit rankings. The boys are ranked No. 4 with the girl’s No. 5. The boys trail only Athens Academy, Galloway and Darlington. The girls find themselves behind Landmark, First Presbyterian Day, Darlington and Athens Christian.  “Hard work pays off and our cross country athletes are finally getting the recognition they deserve,” said Head Coach Susan Reilly. In their last meet both teams had strong showings at the Wesleyan Invitational. The boys finished fourth out of 13 teams, while the girls finished sixth out of 12 teams.  Junior Shane Sullivan led the way for the boys finishing in eighth place overall with a time of 17:32.
