UPDATE: Il Divo Brings Excitement to Crowd, Not ASO

The quartet performed a blend of pop and musical theater tunes in their concert at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre. But they didn't use the ASO's musical talents, just their bodies.

UPDATE Aug. 16: While I'm awaiting confirmation, it appears that the ASO was playing music for this concert, but nobody else heard it. ArtsAtl.com reports that the muscians were told at rehearsal that Il Divo would have a recording of another orchestra piped through the amphitheater sound system. ************ Il Divo performed its 100th show for an appreciative audience in Alpharetta on Sunday night, as approximately 7,000 audience members listened to the classical crossover quartet, backed by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. This was the second Simon Cowell "creation" at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre this month. Kelly Clarkson was in town on Aug. 8 with The Fray. The American Idol had to face Cowell as one of the judges on that show's …

And Clarkson sang several songs from these platforms, telling the crowd that when she was a kid, if she even got into a concert it was way in the back. The crowd appreciated these efforts by the artists. Suddenly fans in the back of the amphitheatre could see the faces of …

This time I didn't take the photos, but they place photographers either in front of the front row up by those security guys at the stage, or immediately behind the sound board halfway to the lawn from the stage. This spot is several feet lower than the seats in the upper level, so no obstruction there, either. And photogs only get to stay there for a couple of songs.   more ›
