Canned Food Needed for Student Competition, Charity
North Fulton high schools will use cans to competitively build architectural structures.
The race is on to help North Fulton high schools end hunger in the Atlanta community through the collection of canned food items. But unlike the usual canned food drive, students are using the donated cans as a real-world lesson to sharpen their architectural design skills. Fulton County Schools has joined the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce, North Point Mall, and the architectural firm of Goodwyn, Mills & Cawood to host the first-ever Atlanta area “Can Do Good” social design competition. The competition asks high schools to hold canned food drives and then design and build an imaginative structure made completely of those cans and other non-perishable food items.
