Emily Raymer and Devin Peterson named All-Region.

Mount Pisgah Christian School varsity basketball players Emily Raymer and Devin Peterson were recently named All-Region 6-A. Raymer, a senior, was named first team All-Region. The Rollins College signee averaged 13.1 points, 13.3 rebounds, 4.8 blocks and 1.6 steals per game. Peterson was named second team All-Region. The junior guard averaged 14.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.4 steals and 2.2 assists on the season.

The Chattahoochee High School varsity basketball teams participated in the Big Red Shootout, a holiday tournament hosted by Gainesville High School Dec. 27-29. Facing state-ranked Parkview in the final game, the Lady Cougars took second place in the tournament. The boys' varsity team came in third. In addition, three Hooch players were named to the All-Tournament Team – Erin Morrow, Trey Archambeau and Markus Terry.

Chattahoochee High School’s Markus Terry has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Presbyterian College. Terry, a four-year letterman, is a Naismith Awards honorable mention. Terry received recognition as 6A Region Player of the Year his junior year, was nominated to First Team All-Region and participated in the Georgia North vs. South All Star Game. Terry also scored 1,000 career points during his junior year.

The Chattahoochee High School basketball program will assist Perimeter Church in a toy drive to collect toys for the Salvation Army Angel Tree Program for Gwinnett County and the Norcross Co-Op. The goal is to collect gifts for 900 children this Christmas. Chattahoochee will be asking for donations of unwrapped toys at their Dec. 7 and Dec. 14 home basketball games. Tip-off starts both days at 4:30 p.m. with JV girls, followed by varsity girls at 6 p.m. and varsity boys at 7:30 p.m. Please come out and help make a child’s holiday brighter.

The Chattahoochee High School Basketball Program is sponsoring its annual Elementary School Night Friday, Dec. 7, when Hooch hosts Alpharetta High School in an early region game. Chattahoochee invites all students from the five elementary schools supporting the Hooch district: Abbotts Hill, Findley Oaks, Lake Windward, Ocee and State Bridge Crossing. Advance ticket sales will occur the morning of Dec. 7 at each elementary school. Every student who purchases an advance $5 ticket will receive a free T-shirt. Students who wear the shirt to the game receive a free popcorn.

Chattahoochee High School’s Rashon Dumas has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball at Georgia Highlands College in Rome. Dumas will join Georgia Highlands for the first year of its basketball program. A three-year varsity letterman, he won Most Improved Basketball Player for the 2011-2012 season, helping the Cougars win the Region 7-AAAA championship. Dumas participated in the Cougar to Cougar mentoring program and volunteers his time with the local Atlanta Mission. He plans to major in journalism.

Panthers defeat Cougars 68-63.
After defeating Douglas County 91-65 on Wednesday, Chattahoochee's boys basketball team fell to SW DeKalb 68-63 in the quarterfinals of the state basketball tournament on Friday. The Cougars (7-AAAA) played Southwest DeKalb (6-AAAA) at the University of West Georgia in Carrollton. Mount Pisgah's (5-A) boys basketball team was out of the playoffs after the Patriots fell to Aquinas (7-A) 60-56 in the second round on Wednesday. Northview (6-AAAAA) had entered the playoffs, too, but fell to Wheeler (5-AAAAA) in the first round 71-63. Visit the Georgia High School Association's website for complete brackets.

Patriots couldn't muster enough intensity to challenge the Wolves.
Wesleyan junior point guard Takim Williams scored 21 points and led the Wolves to a 65-46 win over Mount Pisgah Christian Tuesday night. "In the first half, we played really well. I think we got careless in taking care of the basketball near the end of the first half," Mount Pisgah Head Coach Douglas Byrd said. John's Creek teams resume play next week after icy conditions halt this week's games.
Johns Creek varsity basketball games were canceled this week because of icy road conditions and school closures. Georgia law dictates that if schools are closed because of inclement weather, all athletic events must be canceled, too. Johns Creek high school varsity basketball games resume next week. Canceled games are being rescheduled, so check back for updates. Below are each team's overall and regional records.
