Autrey Mill 'Spring Market' Offers Arts, Crafts

Nature center event is this Saturday, April 27.

Autrey Mill Nature Preserve and Heritage Center in Johns Creek is offering items of manmade beauty among the natural splendor of the park at "Spring Market at the Mill" on Saturday, April 27, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Between 15 and 20 vendors and crafters will be displaying natural and handmade products under the large, covered Pole Barn and in the Program Barn. Wares include natural soaps, hand-woven shawls and scarves, jewelry, watercolor landscapes, and vintage glass re-purposed for everyday use, such as platters or candleholders. "We held our first market last winter, and had a great response from the community. Autrey Mill Summer Camps in Johns Creek Offer Fun, Education

Nature preserve offers 23 camps; programs start in June.

If you're looking for something fun and educational for the kids to do this summer, Autrey Mill Nature Preserve and Heritage Center in Johns Creek offers 23 exciting camps to choose from. Located on 46 acres of beautiful woodlands with nature trails, a winding creek, pavilions, historic buildings and animal exhibits, Autrey Mill helps children connect with nature and history. Registration for each camp remains open until it fills up, but some are already reaching their limit. The camps start in the first week in June and run until early August. Tadpole Nature Summer camps are available for youngsters 4 to 5, and cover reptiles, insects, and Sal's Creek and watersheds. Autrey Mill Receives Gift of Furniture

Aaron's, Leadership Johns Creek make donation to nature center.

Members of Leadership Johns Creek (“LJC”) joined executives from Aaron’s and Autrey Mill Nature Preserve Director Ben Team last Friday to accept a generous donation of furniture for the Welcome Center.  The center is now equipped with a new welcome desk, along with new desks, bookcases, filing drawers, and chairs for the director’s office.   This Leadership Johns Creek team is also building and installing new donation bins for the area’s local Foster Care program. Autrey Mill Hosting Old-Fashioned Fun

Nature preserve throwing Hoe Down and Heritage Day.

Experience the fun of days past when Autrey Mill Nature Preserve & Heritage Center hosts a Hoe Down on Friday night followed by a Heritage Day celebration on Saturday. Hoe Down at the Mill kicks off Friday evening at 6 and includes square dancing, building tours and family trivia with dinner and drinks available for purchase. Tickets are $5 and inc one drink. Ben Team Named Executive Director at Autrey Mill

Ben Team has been with nature center since 2004.

The Board of Directors of Autrey Mill Nature Preserve and Heritage Center has announced the promotion of Ben Team to executive director.  For the past 16 years, Team has been providing environmental education programs to children, teachers, scouts and the general public. Team has been with Autrey Mill since 2004, serving initially as education coordinator. He was promoted to director in 2006.  He has been featured in the Atlanta Journal/Constitution, on Disney Radio, several local magazines and more.
