Johns Creek Registering for Baseball Camp

Staff from Sports-A-Rama will coach the camps during June and July.

Johns Creek's youngest baseball players can work on their pitching, hitting and fielding during special camps offered through the city this summer. Professional baseball staff from Sports-A-Rama will coach youngsters using drills and games shown to improve natural talent. The training, which will be grouped by age with one instructor per 10 students, is open to players seven- to 13-years-old. Camps will take place June 10-13 and July 15-18, running from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ocee Park, 10900 Buice Road. Registration is open now, closing June 5 for the June camp and July 10 for the July camp. Camps cost $150 for Johns Creek residents and $225 for non-residents. Hooch Boys', Girls' Summer Soccer Camps Planned

Register for camps now.

The 2013 Chattahoochee Cougar Soccer Summer Camp for girls and boys is coming up and registration is filling fast. Instructed by Varsity Head Coach Les Meenan and Varsity Assistant Coach Eduardo Coloma, the camp is a great way for young soccer players to learn about expectations for high school soccer and brush up on their skills for the fall. Youth ages 11-14 can still register for the camp, which will be held June 24-27 at Chattahoochee High School stadium from 5 p.m. till 8 p.m. Monday-Thursday. Johns Creek Business Association Donates to the Public Safety Foundation

The association and foundation are currently taking registrations for the annual Greg Whitaker “Guns and Hoses Golf Tournament.”

The Johns Creek Business Association recently presented the Johns Creek Public Safety Foundation with a check for $2,000 to assist fallen police and fire officers, as well as their families in a time of need or loss, according to a JCBA statement. The donation was possible thanks to the JCBA’s annual Greg Whitaker “Guns and Hoses Golf Tournament” held in 2012. This year, the tournament will be held on Monday, June 3 at St Ives Country Club and proceeds from this tournament will be shared with the Johns Creek Public Safety Foundation and JCBA. “This year’s tournament will be filled with excitement and superb golfing and is expected to be a sold out event. The Torch is Lit at Newtown Park: Golden Games Begin

Hundreds of North Fulton residents converged on Johns Creek for the start of a month of activities for the 50+ crowd.

Mayors from Johns Creek, Roswell, Alpharetta and Milton helped kick off the North Fulton Golden Games this morning at Newtown Park, May 1, as hundreds of residents got ready for the first day of competition. After the colors were presented, the Star Spangled Banner was sung and the torch was lit, it was time for some friendly competition between the mayors. Once that was over, the North Fulton residents aged 50 and older walked as a parade to the first day's event, which were field events. Competition will continue at venues across the five cities of North Fulton. Sandy Springs is the other city. Johns Creek Student Named 'Athlete of the Month'

Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce and XL212 honored local students, April 23.

The Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce and XL212 recently recognized area students as their outstanding North Fulton student-athletes for March and April.   Honored for their exceptional academic, athletic and civic accomplishments, Centennial High School's Matt Celani and Blessed Trinity High School's Reed Scott were honored at the GNFCC Eggs & Enterprise Breakfast on April 23. Celani, named March Male Student-Athlete of the Month, is the goalkeeper for the Knights soccer team. He has posted 26 career shutouts including 21 saves in seven games, including 5 shutouts. He is a three-time scholar athlete and has been a member of FCA, National Honor Society and Young Life. Scott, the April Male Student-Athlete of the Month, pitches for …

Pisgah Tennis Wins Thrilling Area Final

Girls' tennis captures fourth consecutive area title.

The Mount Pisgah Christian School varsity girls tennis team won its fourth consecutive Area/Region championship on Wednesday with a dramatic 3-2 win over Darlington. “It was a Cinderella story that could have been a Hollywood script like "Rudy" or "Hoosiers." It was an honest-to-goodness feel-good story that still continues,” said Head Coach Ken Bomar.  The Lady Patriots got off to a strong start with Cissy Jamieson and Nicole Peters quickly disposing of Darlington's No. 1 doubles 6-0, 6-4.
