What's Happening This Weekend

Here's our guide to this weekend's best bets in Johns Creek.

For Movie Fans:

Head to Newtown Park on Saturday, Aug. 24 to watch OZ: The Great & Powerful on a giant inflatable screen. Be sure to bring a blanket. Movie starts at dusk. Click here for more details.

For Football Fans:

The Johns Creek High School Gladiators take on Woodstock High School in the season's home opener on Friday, Aug. 23. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

The Chattahoochee High School Cougars take on Kell High School in the Corky Kell Classic at the Georgia Dome Satuday, Aug. 24. Game time is 9 a.m.

The Northview Titans face South Forsythin an away game on Friday, Aug. 30 for their second game of the season. The Titans won their home opener against Johns Creek High 28-14 on Aug. 16.

Mount Pisgah Christian heads down to Atlanta to take on Mount Vernon Presbyterian for the school's opening game on Aug. 24. Game time is 1 p.m.

For Vegetable Lovers:

Stop by Newtown Park Saturday, Aug. 24, between 8:30 - 12:30 p.m. for the weekly Farmers Market where 20 local farmers and vendors sell organic and sustainable produce.

For Fitness Buffs

Sign up for one of Johns Creek Park & Rec fitness classes. Classes are held at Newtown Community Clubhouse. Zumba and yoga classes offered. Visit the city's website for class schedules and fee information.

For Gardners

The Johns Creek Community Garden with 41 raised beds, is available for planting flowers, vegetables and herbs. A small membership fee is required. The community garden is located in the Newtown Park near the north entrance. Visit the Johns Creek Garden Association's website for more.
