Local Synagogue to Host International Project 'Torah Stitch By Stitch'

Unique project introduced by Toronto artist includes 1400 international volunteers in creating a cross-stitched fabric scroll measuring nearly 300 feet long and six feet high.

Next weekend, January 24-26, Congregation Dor Tamid is hosting international artist Temma Gentiles, designer and coordinator of an international project titled "Torah Stitch By Stitch."

You are invited to see for yourself the origins of the ambitious project to reproduce the complete Five Books of Moses in hand-stitch panels that measure almost 300 feet long and over six feet tall. The origins of the project date back to the time of Maimonides.

The artist, who lives in Toronto, Canada, will be on hand Saturday for an adult education class followed by dinner and movie night.

And on Sunday in a class led by the artist, learn how to become involved in the project, watch demonstrations of cross-stitch basics and chat with stitchers already involved in the project. (Registration is required to participate in the Sunday session.)

For schedule information and to register, visit www.dortamid.org or contact Laurie Weinstein at 513-310-9904 or by email at laurie.m.weinstein@gmail.com
