What's Going On Around Town

The Johns Creek Patch calendar is full of news about events coming up in the weeks ahead. Here's a look at five of this week's community events.

1. City of Johns Creek has a Work Session scheduled for 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9 in which bid award reviews for several projects will be discussed. The Finance Director will also provide a review of the city's budget for next year.

2. And following the Work Session will be a Special Called meeting at 6:30 p.m. for City Council to consider a resolution to settle its dispute with Fulton County over the Local Option Sales Tax (LOST).

3. Then at 7 p.m. Johns Creek City Council will hold its regular meeting. On the agenda are a number of items including the election of a Mayor pro-tem to replace Bev Miller who was pro-tem but resigned from her city council seat to run for mayor. Also on the agenda, a public hearing on the 2014 Fiscal Year Proposed Budget.

4. 9/11 Remembrance, Wednesday, Sept. 11 at Northview High School: The Rotary Club of Johns Creek has scheduled an event to be held at the school's auditorium from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Glenn Spears, commander of the 89th Airlift Wing at Andrews Air Force Base on the day of the attacks, who is also a Johns Creek resident, is the guest speaker. 

5. Woamtec's Johns Creek Chapter is hosting a networking luncheon on Sept. 13 and you are invited to attend. WOAMTEC is a professional networking organization. Visit www.woamtec.com to learn more about the organization.
