Weather prognosticators were warning of a possible snow and icy conditions as early as Monday evening. The worst of the bad weather, they said would likely hit south of the Atlanta metro area.

They were wrong.

The gridlock in Johns Creek left many stranded and some who jumped out of their own cars to help other drivers who were slipping and sliding trying to get home Tuesday night.

Numerous updates arrived throughout the afternoon and evening from the City of Johns Creek reporting of streets totally impassible.

Patch posted the updates on the Johns Creek Patch Facebook page as soon as the alerts arrived.

Adding to the traffic, was school traffic. Fulton County school leaders announced classes were cancelled as of 1:45 p.m. sending parents scrambling to pick up their children.

Buses clogged the snowy roads that were beginning to ice over. Traffic was at a near standstill at rush hour.

Residents sent photos of the roads and snow. Do you have a tale to tell about your experience navigating the icy roads? Use the comment box below and let your neighbors know.

"They were wrong." Catch-phrase for Cluster Flake 2014. The blame-game is on full throttle. By the way, I was at home in the office waiting for the local media to leap into full panic mode. Didn't take long at all. To all of those that had to suffer through this I sincerely feel bad. Hope that you and your families made it home without serious incident.

I'm just happy to be home safe and sound tonight instead of still at school entertaining children stranded by the weather like last night.
