Flag raising and dedication set for Saturday.

Jake Erickson says he hopes his recently completed Eagle Project will serve as a rallying point at .

The Troop 2000 Life Scout and rising senior at came up with the idea to install a flagpole and paver plaza at Shakerag after an associate of his father (who is an architect) suggested he reuse the pole from a work site that was scheduled for demolition.

Jake began this project two years ago, and at the time the was renovating the fields in Shakerag Park near (which he attended). As the city was expecting to use the fields for soccer, lacrosse and rugby tournaments, Jake explains that he thought there should be a flagpole with a flag to salute for the National Anthem, and that the flagpole would have the added benefit of serving as a rallying point and centerpoint of the fields.
