Mature Dog Seeks Loving Companion

Sally Belle is available for adoption through Angels Among Us.

Meet Sally Belle, an 8-year-old old Sheltie/Corgi mix who weighs around 23 pounds and is available for adoption through Angels Among Us Pet Rescue

Sally is a loving, mature dog who is 100 percent house-trained, but will softly bark when she's ready to go "pottie." She is quiet as a mouse the rest of the time - not a barker at all. Apparently, little Sally Belle had been abandoned by her previous owners and was picked up wandering the streets alone.

After being brought into animal control, it was discovered this older girl had a tumor on her neck. The shelter suspected due to her age and medical condition, this poor girl had been dumped and left to fend for herself or die alone.

She is so well-behaved, not a "runner," not aggressive in any way, it was unlikely she had voluntarily wandered off alone on her own. The local shelter and a Sheltie breed group had tried, without sucess, to find a home for the little abandoned lady.

Due to her age and not being a purebred Sheltie, it was becoming more and more difficult. But as fate would have it, a foster who has a love for Shelties saw the plea for a home for Sally and immediatly offered to take her in.

The volunteers at the shelter made sure Sally Belle was kept safe until the volunteer could pick her up, even though they were beyond capacity at the time. At the same time, the people in the Sheltie group donated funds on her behalf. This precious, quiet, little mature lady who had been so lost a few days before now had so many reaching out to her - to help her survive and find a loving home and family.

Sally Belle officially became an Angels dog, and has been an absolute joy in every way to her foster family. Sally Belle had surgery to remove the tumor, which was benign, and has been given a clean bill of health by her vets.

She is up-to-date on all her shots, her teeth are in very good shape, she is spayed, 100 percent house-trained, is microchipped and ready for adoption.  Sally doesn't like to be in a crate, but this girl is so laid back, loving, quiet and easygoing, there really is no need to crate her.

She is excellent with other dogs, children and humans. She has met a few cats and is well behaved around them. She is very low-key, enjoys a nice walk but will not pester you for constant walks or playtime. All she wants is a little love, attention and companionship.

She will not get up on furniture or the bed, but is perfectly happy to just curl up at your feet and keep you company. Sally Belle would be perfect for someone living in an apartment, condo or home. She is calm, quiet and would be the perfect dog to live in a retirement or 55+ community.

You can see Sally Belle on the "Good Day Atlanta" program on the Fox5 Atlanta channel on Tuesday morning, Sept. 25, in the 9-10 a.m. hour, or you can come out and meet her at Angel's "Love IS Ageless!" adoptions event on Saturday, Sept. 29, at Pet Fancy in Roswell.
