Johns Creek Relay Captain Wins Statewide Award

Johns Creek Relay for Life team captain Jay Roper has won an iPad as part of a statewide Relay for Life contest. The goal of the friendly competition was to raise the most money online between Groundhog’s Day and Valentine’s Day. Roper ended with $6,200 of his $10,000 goal, with nearly three months still to go before Johns Creek Relay for Life 2011.

Roper “relays” for his wife, Penny, who is a four-year breast cancer survivor.  He has been involved since the inception of Johns Creek Relay for Life, participating as both a team captain and the board treasurer. He beat Relay team captains from as far away as Glynn County.

Johns Creek Relay for Life will take place at Johns Creek High School, 5575 State Bridge Road, on Friday, May 6.
