Summer Fun in Atlanta Includes $1 Movies

Free and cheap movies let parents entertain kids on hot summer days without breaking the bank. Cheap dive-in and $1 movies are some options on the north side of Atlanta.

It’s summertime in Atlanta and that means parents are looking for ways to keep their kids entertained. The north side of Atlanta offers great options to catch a family flick, including cheap $1 movies and stay-cool dive-in flicks.

$1 Movies

For parents who want to stretch their summer entertainment budget, the Regal Summer Movie Express with $1 movies is a great money-saving option and a cool deal to beat the summer heat. Moviegoers of all ages can climb aboard to enjoy a great selection of $1 movies at select Regal and United Artists theatres in Atlanta. The Regal Summer Movie Express lasts nine weeks throughout the summer and offers family-friendly G or PG rated movies every Tuesday and Wednesday at 10:00 a.m.

The movie schedule varies by location, so be sure to check Regal’s website and type in your zip code to find the participating theater closest to you. Below is the schedule of movies for Medlock Crossing Stadium 18, just to give you an idea of this year’s $1 movies for kids.

at in Johns Creek is a summer outdoor series of family-friendly movies presented on a huge inflatable screen. Pre-show activities include an inflatable moonwalk and giant slide, face painting, children’s activities, giveaways, entertainment, food and drinks. The movies are free and open to the public. Saturday dates in 2012 are June 9, July 14 and Aug. 4. Movie titles are announced one week prior to each event. 

Dive-in Movies

There’s something so very cool about watching a movie while floating in a pool. It’s the perfect way to entertain the kiddies while beating the soaring heat in Hotlanta. Every Saturday during the months of June, July and August, the new and improved LanierWorld at Lake Lanier is showing family-friendly movies at the Family Fun Park. The movie is included with a paid admission. If you want to go just for the movie, it’s $5.99 at 9 p.m., plus gate fee. For more information, go to www.lakelanierislands.com.
