Autrey Mill Summer Camps in Johns Creek Offer Fun, Education

Nature preserve offers 23 camps; programs start in June.

If you're looking for something fun and educational for the kids to do this summer, Autrey Mill Nature Preserve and Heritage Center in Johns Creek offers 23 exciting camps to choose from.

Located on 46 acres of beautiful woodlands with nature trails, a winding creek, pavilions, historic buildings and animal exhibits, Autrey Mill helps children connect with nature and history.

Registration for each camp remains open until it fills up, but some are already reaching their limit. The camps start in the first week in June and run until early August.

Tadpole Nature Summer camps are available for youngsters 4 to 5, and cover reptiles, insects, and Sal's Creek and watersheds. Tadpole camps cost $115 for Autrey Mill members and $145 for non-members. Tadpole campers bring a snack but do not eat a lunch. Camps are five days long.

Turtle Nature Summer camps are for kids 6 to 10 years old, and offer adventure camps, reptile camps, insect camps and camps that explore Sal's Creek. Turtle camps cost $180 for members and $210 for non-members. Campers bring a snack and a lunch. Camps are five days long.

For young people interested in history and how they did things back in the old days, Autrey Mill offers eight different Heritage Summer camps. The Heritage camps explore life through engaging activities, games, crafts and exploration of historic buildings. Camps include Southern MannersMythical Friends of the Forest, and several camps focus on specific periods in American history. Autrey Mill has also brought back its popular Heritage Doll camp.

Heritage camps are available for children aged 6 to 11, last five days, and cost $180 for Autrey Mill members and $210 for non-members. Campers should bring a snack and a lunch.
