The Torch is Lit at Newtown Park: Golden Games Begin

Hundreds of North Fulton residents converged on Johns Creek for the start of a month of activities for the 50+ crowd.

Mayors from Johns Creek, Roswell, Alpharetta and Milton helped kick off the North Fulton Golden Games this morning at Newtown Park, May 1, as hundreds of residents got ready for the first day of competition.

After the colors were presented, the Star Spangled Banner was sung and the torch was lit, it was time for some friendly competition between the mayors. Once that was over, the North Fulton residents aged 50 and older walked as a parade to the first day's event, which were field events.

Competition will continue at venues across the five cities of North Fulton. Sandy Springs is the other city. Recreation and Parks Departments from the cities and the Fulton County Human Services Office of Aging are presented the Golden Games, along with the Roswell Ramblers.
