Are you ready for another round of picks?

Lambert at : Johns Creek faces its second big Region 7-AAAA opponent in as many weeks when the Gladiators (5-1) host first-place Lambert (5-0).  Last week, the Gladiators were pushed into overtime in a 19-16 loss to Chattahoochee. Johns Creek led 10-6 before Chattahoochee hit on a 61-yard TD pass with two minutes left. The Glads then kicked a field goal to force OT.

Lambert has been tough on defense and balanced on offense. The Longhorns had two rushers over 100 yards and passed for 165 and two TDs in last week’s win over Forsyth Central. A Lambert win puts the Longhorns in great position to win the region. A Johns Creek win creates a virtual three-way tie (with Chattahoochee) for the lead. Lambert 21, Johns Creek 20.

at West Forsyth: Northview stepped up big time in a 39-13 win over North Forsyth last week. The Titans (2-4, 1-1 Region 6-AAAAA) stepped into playoff contention, a substantial development, considering they went 1-9 overall, 0-6 in the region last year. It’s clear Northview is much improved. West Forsyth (5-1, 1-1) may still be smarting after last week’s 27-14 loss to first-place Alpharetta, but still remains among the region’s elite. The Wolverines must regroup to turn back a Northview team that could keep this game close. West Forsyth 27, Northview 17.

at Woodland: Chattahoochee, which has won four straight games, has officially regrouped from its season-opening loss to Lambert. The Cougars (4-1) scored a huge win in OT over Johns Creek last week, and can stay in contention for one of Region 7-AAAA’s top two seedings with a win over a Woodland team (3-2) that cannot afford a third region loss. Chattahoochee 24, Woodland 14.

Fellowship Christian at : Two 3-2 teams with nearly identical aspirations (making the playoffs) meet in this Region 5-A North game.  Pisgah, 6-4 last year, is 1-1 in the region, just behind leaders Holy Innocents’ and Wesleyan. Fellowship, which beat Pinecrest Academy 21-14 last week, is 1-2 in the region. Neither can afford a loss if they want to challenge for one of the subregion’s top two spots. Mt. Pisgah 28, Fellowship 21.
