Longhorns Lacrosse Team Hooks Gladiators

The Johns Creek boys lacrosse team was dominated by the Lambert Longhorns 14-2.

The Lambert High School boys lacrosse team (17-1) showed why it is the best team in the state as it totally dominated Johns Creek by the score of 14-2 Monday night. 

It was Senior Night at Lambert, and 15 senior members of the boys lacrosse team were honored.      

Lambert senior attacker Connor Butz made the most of his senior night by scoring five goals to lead the Longhorns to the 14-2 win over the Gladiators.

Johns Creek got off to a promising start as sophomore midfielder Andrew Szambelan scored the first goal of the game with 6:30 left in the first period. 

However, the Gladiators' joy would be short lived as the Longhorns struck back.  With 4:43 left in the first period, Butz scored the first of his five goals to tie the score at 1-1.  From then on out, it was all Lambert Longhorns.

Lambert reeled off five unanswered goals to complete the first half, the first coming from Adam Seal, who was assisted by Butz.  The next goal came from senior midfielder Nick Croft, who scored the first of his two goals on the evening.  Croft scored his second goal, followed by two more goals from Butz, and the Longhorns went into halftime with a 6-1 lead.      

Lambert picked up right where it left off to start the second half.  Adam Seal scored early to begin a barrage of goals from Lambert that ultimately put the game away. 

The Gladiators had absolutely no answer for the onslaught of the Longhorns and Lambert went on to win 14-2. 

Johns Creek did get a goal late in the game by sophomore attacker Tommy Welch.      

In addition to Butz's five goals, senior attacker Seal also had a great senior night, scoring four goals. Senior midfielder Croft scored two, and Zach Price, Corey Philips and Matt Geran had oen goal each.  

The win puts the Longhorns season record at 17-1, while Johns Creek drops to 11-4.
