Lady Patriots Advance in Softball Playoffs
Pisgah softball advances to second round of state playoffs.
The softball team advanced to the second round of the GHSA Class A state tournament on Wednesday with a double header sweep of North Cobb Christian. The Lady Patriots (21-3) had to come from behind to win the first game 5-4 and easily took the second game 8-0.
No. 3-ranked Pisgah will host either Georgia Military or Hebron Christian on Wednesday, Oct. 19.Β
In the first game, Courtney Condon hit a home run in the second inning to give Pisgah a 2-1 lead. North Cobb (14-3) rallied to score two runs in the fifth inning to take a 3-2 lead. The Patriots answered in the bottom of the sixth as Nicole Peters singled and later scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at three.

The Eagles came right back, posting a run in the top of the seventh and took a 4-3 lead into the bottom of the inning. Avery White led off the seventh for Pisgah with a single. Bunt hits by Alaina Grant and Madison Wickline gave Pisgah the bases loaded with no one out. Again Peters came through with a single, which scored two runs to win the game.
Condon pitched all seven innings for the Lady Patriots, allowing three hits and a walk while striking out nine.

The second game was all Pisgah as Jenn Sapp pitched a two hitter. Sapp also sparked the offense in the first inning as her triple scored Wickline and Peters to give the Patriots a 2-0 lead. She added another RBI in the second inning as Pisgah took a 4-0 lead.
Later Morgan Walters homered and Condon drove in two more runs as Pisgah cruised to an 8-0 win.
Sapp pitched all seven innings and struck out five Eagles batters.
