Are you ready for another round of picks?

at South Forsyth: Two months ago this looked like it would be a late-season game between two playoff contenders. With Johns Creek 6-1 overall and in Region 7-AAAAA and South Forsyth 2-5, the matchup only gives South Forsyth a chance to play spoiler in the Gladiators’ hopes of winning the region title. Johns Creek, an impressive 23-0 winner over Lambert two weeks ago, is in a three-way tie for first with Lambert and Chattahoochee and needs to keep pace. Johns Creek 30, South Forsyth 20.

Cass at : Every week, Chattahoochee looks more and more like the team that won the state championship last year. That’s not to say the Cougars (6-1), winners of six straight games, will repeat, but they may be playing the best football right now in top-heavy Region 7-AAAAA. Cass is 0-8 and hasn’t come closer that 12 points to any of its opponents. Chattahoochee 44, Cass 10.

Roswell at : There is no such thing as the “best 0-7 team in the state,” but winless Roswell might have an argument that despite its struggles it’s not as bad as the record indicates. Three of the Hornets’ losses are by a field goal or less, including two of their three Region 6-AAAAA losses. Northview (2-6) could also argue that it’s better than people think. The Titans have shown they can score (26.6 points per game) and they’re clearly improved over last year’s 1-9 team. Northview is 0-3 against Roswell. By Saturday it’ll be 1-3. Northview 28, Roswell 24.

at King’s Ridge: A pair of 4-3 teams meet in what should be a close Region 5-A North contest. Both are 2-2 in the subregion standings, a game behind second place. The winner stays within striking distance of the top, and a possible playoff berth. King’s Ridge 21, Mount Pisgah 20.
