Woodward North Kid Reaches IronKid Nationals

Malia Nelson finished high enough in her age group in the IronKids Triathlon to compete in the national championship.

Woodward North fourth-grader Malia Nelson qualified to compete nationally after finishing seventh in her age group in the IronKids Triathlon in Alpharetta on Sept. 16.

Malia placed 7th overall in the 9-year-old girls’ category. As a top-ten finisher, Malia qualified to compete in the 2013 IronKids National Championship and got to meet one of her idols, Winter Vinecki, who started a non-profit organization to support prostate cancer research in memory of her father.

More than 1,500 kids competed in the IronKids Triathlon.
