Woodward North fifth-grader Alexis Anglade won first place in her age category at the Y10 Women's Saber Division of the Super Youth Circuit Capitol Clash Fencing Competition in Washington D.C. on Feb. 5.

The competition is one of the largest regional youth matches of the fencing season with more than 1,000 youth fencers from clubs and organizations from around the country in attendance. Alexis won the Jefferson Cup, which is a replica of the cup presented to Thomas Jefferson in 1806.
