State Bridge Crossing Kicks Off Korean Teaching Exchange
Elementary school welcomes Korean officials, teachers to classrooms.
As five Johns Creek schools embark on a teaching exchange program with Korea, State Bridge Crossing Elementary welcomed education officials to its school on Monday.
Ho Jin Yoon, head of the International Teacher Training Institute in Duluth, and Dr. Donghee Kim, a director at Korea's National Institute for International Education, visited with the school as the program kicked off.
"It's a chance for our staff and students to experience Korean culture," Trey Martin, State Bridge Crossing's principal, told Patch. "It will help me and the staff learn more about the culture and teaching our students."

As part of the program, State Bridge Crossing, along with Wilson Creek Elementary, River Trail Middle, Johns Creek High and Northview High, is hosting 12 master teachers from Korea for a teaching exchange program sponsored by the Georgia Department of Education and the Korean Ministry of Education Science and Technology.
The eight-week program allows experienced Korean teachers to improve their English and class management skills by experiencing the education system in English-speaking countries. The teachers will work alongside one of the schools' teachers, who will act as a mentor and give feedback and guidance. Some Fulton mentor teachers will have the chance to visit Korea this summer.
"Having the opportunity to . . . host these excellent teachers in our schools is a tremendous opportunity and experience,” said Fulton Schools Superintendent Robert Avossa in a press release. “It will give both of our countries a deeper understanding of each other’s educational systems. There is much we can learn from each other.”
