River Trail Honors Teacher, Professional of Year

Matt Thomas, orchestra teacher, was named River Trail Middle School Teacher of the Year. In his fourth year at RTMS, Thomas teaches orchestra, guitar and general music. Under his tutelage, the orchestra has been recognized through a performance at Carnegie Hall in New York City as well as awarded high standard performer every year at the Southern Star Music Festival. His guitar class is one of only three such classes offered in Georgia, making his program particularly unique. In addition to his RTMS duties, Thomas directs the Fulton County Fiddle Team, which provides students with enhanced performance opportunities that are not typically part of their daily orchestra program.

Farah Jetha, school technology specialist, was named River Trail Support Personnel of the Year. In her sixth year at RTMS, Jetha works with teachers daily in one-on-one environments and professional learning settings to ensure the proper integration of technology into their classrooms.
