Pisgah Middle Schoolers Win Five Championships in One Week

The Mount Pisgah Middle School athletic program ended April with a bang last week winning five North Atlanta Metro League (NAML) championships. The boy’s tennis team started things off their title on Tuesday. On Thursday baseball, girls’ soccer, boy’s golf and girl’s golf all won their championships.

“It’s quite an accomplishment to have five teams win championships in any given year, but to have five teams win championships in one week is amazing. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen anything like it in all my years in athletics. I think it shows the quality of our student-athletes across the board,” said Athletics Director Doug Dixon.

The boys' tennis team defeated Pinecrest 3-1 in the championship match. Ben Austin and Scott Bauer each won their singles matches, while Cameron Sands and Tripp Copenhaver won their doubles point. The girls' tennis team finished third, defeating St. Francis 3-1 in the consolation match. Mary Fountain and Reagan Sands earned singles points, with Mackenzie Walters and Madison Price teaming for a doubles point.

The baseball team defeated St. Francis 14-4. Alden Pascucci pitched a complete game and eight Pisgah batters drove in runs. The Patriots (11-2) won both of their playoff games by run-rule.

The girls’ soccer team won 2-1 over Fellowship. Annabelle Geier scored both goals, but it was an all-around great team effort according to Head Coach Doug Yearwood.

The girls' golf team won their tournament in very windy conditions at the Crystal Falls Golf Club. The team shot a 154 led by Wilton Kinnerly's 50 and personal bests from Megan McGaughey (51) and Simone Brown (53).

The boys' golf team, who also played at Crystal Falls, won their tournament by 12 strokes over Walker. John Erik Alford and Connor McKinnon both shot 38, while Matthew Zhu shot a 44.
