Pisgah Softball Defeats No. 5 Team in AAAAA

Condon throws one-hitter as Pisgah defeats Union Grove.

Courtney Condon tossed a one-hitter as the No. 2 ranked varsity softball team defeated Union Grove 7-1 on Friday. Union Grove is the No. 5 ranked team in AAAAA. Nicole Peters was 2-for-3 and Virginia Eith 1-for-2 with an RBI in the win.

The win highlighted the Lady Patriots' weekend at the Veterans Memorial Tournament in Watkinsville. Pisah won all three games to improve their record to 11-3 on the season. 

Pisgah defeated No. 7 George Walton Academy 11-4 in their opening game of the tournament. Jen Sapp pitched a complete game, scattering four hits and striking out three. Morgan Walter had the big hit for the Patriots with a three-run home run. Condon added a solo homer, while Camille Tracy was 2-for-2.

In the final game the Patriots defeated Winder-Barrow 9-1. Walters hit her second home run of the tournament and also added a triple. Mary Caroline Tracy was 1-for-2 with 3 RBIs.

On Wednesday Pisgah will host Whitefield Academy in a Region 6B-A matchup. The game will be a ‘Pink Out’ as awareness and money will be raised to help fight breast cancer. First pitch is at 5 p.m. at the Patriot Athletic Campus, located at 9825 Brumbelow Road in Johns Creek.

The Lady Patriots will head to Chattanooga this weekend to participate in the SCORE International Tournament. Pisgah is slated to face LaFayette (AAAA), Chattooga (ranked No. 6 in AA), Buford (ranked No. 1 in AAA), Ringgold (ranked No. 3 in AA) and Calhoun (AA).
