Pisgah Remains in Hunt for Playoff Spot

Patriots football falls to Darlington.

The Mount Pisgah varsity football team lost to Darlington 31-14 on Friday night. Despite the loss, the Patriots still have a chance to qualify for the GHSA playoffs for the first time in school history. Pisgah entered the game ranked No. 15 in the Class A Private School rankings. Losses by No. 16 Whitefield Academy and No. 18 Christian Heritage, may keep the Patriots in the playoffs.

Against Darlington, Pisgah trailed early as Darlington scored on their first two possessions and held a 17-0 lead at halftime. The Patriots got on the scoreboard in the second half when senior Ryan Felice broke loose for a 51 yard touchdown run. Felice scored again on a 33 yard touchdown pass from Aaron Winchester. Felice led the team with 59 yards rushing, 66 yards receiving and 13 tackles.

Winchester finished the night 19-of-35 for 218 yards. He also rushed for 38 yards. Austin Harper added 24 yards on the ground, and caught three passes for another 24 yards. Mitchell Phillips also caught three passes for 36 yards.

Defensively, Jacob Delk finished with 10 tackles and Nicky Piccapietra added nine more.
