Pisgah Girls Upset Wesleyan; Patriot Boys Fall to Wolves

Pisgah's girls soccer upsets Lady Wolves 2-0 while boys fall to Wesleyan 1-0.

It was a bittersweet night for Mount Pisgah Christian as the Lady Patriots pulled off a 2-0 win over Wesleyan, but the boys weren't as fortunate as Wesleyan's boys defeated Pisgah 1-0.

In the girls game, the Lady Patriots scored the first of their two goals with 24:55 left in the first half when Hannah Diamond fed the ball to Erin Lutz at the top of the 18 yard box. Lutz took one dribble to her right and shot the ball into the left corner of the net to give the Lady Patriots a 1-0 lead.

With 19:31 left in the second half, the Lady Patriots got their insurance goal when Kaylee Jannico took a pass from Erin Lutz and tucked the ball past the Wesleyan keeper into the left corner of the net to increase Mount Pisgah's lead to 2-0.

The Lady Wolves created some chances to score in the second half, but Mount Pisgah Christian held on for the upset win.

"This was a tremendous game. Playing Wesleyan is always a highly competitive game. For us as a group at Mount Pisgah, we've been working hard for about four to five years to come to a place where we can really compete," Mount Pisgah head coach Andy Trevers said. "For these kids that played today, it was a tremendous accomplishment."
