Pisgah Football Opens Season With Big Win

Patriots open Season in dominate fashion.

The varsity football team opened the 2012 season with a dominate 55-13 win over Mount Vernon. Aaron Winchester led the way, passing for two touchdowns and running for another. The Patriots scored on six of their seven first half possession and tallied 411 yards on the night.

Ryan Felice opened the scoring with a two yard touchdown run on Pisgah's first possession. Two Rondy Brownlee touchdown runs gave the Patriots a 21-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter Winchester scored on a 15 yard run and later found Mitchel Phillips in the end zone for a four yard touchdown pass. Sandwiched in between was a 93 yard touchdown run by Oz Dixon. Pisgah led 41-7 at the half.

On their first drive of the second half, Winchester completed a nine yard touchdown pass to Tommy Pease. Later in the third quarter Patrick Messinger scored on a 40 yard interception return.

Brownlee led the Patriots rushing attack with 14 carries for 126 yards. Felice finished with 8 carries for 59 yards and Winchester ran for 35 yards on five rushes.

Defensively, Felice led the way with eight tackles. Shingi Chigwere finished with six tackles. Justin Cowart had a first quarter interception that stopped an early Mount Vernon drive.

The Patriots are off this week, but will host the Model Blue Devils on Friday, Sept. 7,Β at 7:30 p.m. All home games are played on the Patriot Athletic Campus, located at 9825 Brumbelow Road in Johns Creek.
