Photo Highlights of Mt. Pisgah vs. King's Ridge

Chuck Pitts again chronicles the King's Ridge Christian Tigers in a loss to Pisghah's Patriots, 35-26.

Mt. Pisgah's Aaron Winchester only connected with receivers eight times during the Patriots' contest against King's Ridge Christian Friday night, but four of those passes were for touchdowns, according to the team's website.

It was a different story from last year, when .

Winchester led his team to a 35-26 victory on Oct. 12 over the visiting Tigers, going 8 of 14 and 187 yards, adding 25 yards rushing.

Mt. Pisgah scored first, with Winchester passing to Rondy Brownlee. But King's Ridge came right back to tie the score in the first quarter. That was the last time the Tigers did anything but trail the Patriots.

In the second quarter, the Patriots scored three unanswered touchdowns to go ahead 28-7 at the half, enough points to secure the win. Austin Harper scored on a two-yard run, with Winchester completing touchdown passes to Tommy Pease of 16 yards and Ryan Felice of 24 yards, according to the posted release.

The Tigers weren't dismayed by the score, answering by first returning the second half kickoff for a TD. Next they capitalized on a Mt. Pisgah fumble to score again, cutting the lead to 28-20.

Sophomore Winchester found a new target, Oz Dixon, on a 17-yard TD pass to extend the Patriots' lead to 35-20.

King's Ridge managed to score another touchdown to narrow the score to 35-26, but there wasn't enough time left on the clock. Mt. Pisgah was able to run the clock out and preserve the win.

Mt. Pisgah reports defensive standouts include:

  • Shingi Chigwere – 18 tackles, 1 sack.
  • Justin Cowart – 13 tackles, 1 interception, fumble recovery
  • Nicky Piccapietra – 12 tackles
  • Flint Geier – 9 tackles, 1 sack.
