Northview Students Among Merit Scholars

Twelve Northview students receive scholarships from the schools they will attend.

Twelve Northview students are among the 2,900 winners of National Merit Scholarships financed by U.S. colleges and universities, announced the National Merit Scholarship Corp. today.

Northview recipients include:

  • Mehrzad Adloo - Probable career field: Law. College: University of Georgia.
  • Brian Ward Peek - Probable career field: Business/Education. College: University of Georgia.
  • Marc A. Pomerantz - Probable career field: Medicine. College: University of Florida.
  • Prachi Fulay - Probable career field: Electrical/Computer Engineering. College: Georgia Institute of Technology.
  • Emily A. Halaszynski - Probable career field: Veterinary Medicine. College: Auburn University.
  • Jennifer D. Hua - Probable career field: Medicine. College: Washington University, St. Louis.
  • Richard W. Lu - Probable career field: Industrial Engineering. College: Georgia Institute of Technology.
  • Crystal Chen Meng - Probable career field: Visual Art. College: University of Chicago.
  • Rachel C. Puechner - Probable career field: Chemical Engineering. College: Georgia Institute of Technology.
  • Alexander C. Rohrer - Probable career field: Mathematics. College: Georgia Institute of Technology.
  • Lindsey B. Spreen - Probable career field: Veterinary Medicine. College: University of Georgia.

Officials of each sponsor college selected their scholarship winners from among finalists in the 2011 National Merit Scholarship Program who plan to attend their institution. These awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship. Another group of scholars will be announced in July, bringing the total number of college-sponsored Merit Scholarship recipients in the 2011 competition to approximately 4,800.
