Northview Rallies to Defeat Alpharetta 5-3

Titans and Raiders go toe-to-toe in Region 3AAAAA lacrosse battle.

On Friday night, the Northview Titans and Alpharetta Raiders gave their lacrosse fans all that they could have wanted, and possibly more, as both teams battled relentlessly for four quarters.Β  In terms of speed and intensity, the contest took on the feel of a playoff game.

Northview opened the scoring early in the first quarter when Michael Trainer put a shot into the goal for the Titans.Β  Alpharetta answered with a goal of its own at the 7:41 mark of the first quarter.Β  At the end of the first quarter the game remained tied at 1-1.

The second quarter turned into a defensive struggle until the Raiders' Kyle Reed put in a shot with 3:02 left, giving Alpharetta a 2-1 advantage which they maintained at halftime.

Northview's Brandon Colton scored the only goal of the third period with 2:56 remaining, tying the game at 2-2.Β  Colton scored again early in the fourth quarter giving Northview its first lead of the game at 3-2.Β 

When Michael Trainer scored his second goal of the game with 7:59 left, the Titans looked as if they were in control, taking a 4-2 lead over the Raiders.Β  But 45 seconds later, Alpharetta midfielder George Walker notched his first goal of the game, bringing the Raiders back within one goal at 4-3 and giving Alpharetta hope of pulling even.Β

Those hopes were short-lived as Northview's Kevin Colton scored with just 4:03 remaining, ensuring the Titans a 5-3 win.

Northview remains undefeated, going to 8-0.Β  The loss puts Alpharetta at 6-4 overall.
