Northview Loses Close One to Centennial

Knights score over Region 6AAAAA rival in final inning, 4-2.

For six innings on Thursday, the Northview Titans baseball team did everything right against the visiting Centennial Knights.

The Titans, led by their starting pitcher Evan LaForge, held the Knights scoreless through six innings, giving up only two hits in the process.  Through the same six innings, Northview posted two runs on seven hits and looked to be in control of the game going into the seventh inning.  But the Knights had other plans.

Centennial's bats came alive in the top of the seventh inning.  Knights' shortstop, Jay Baum, opened the inning by doubling and placing himself in scoring position.  First baseman Patrick Sammons followed with a single, moving Baum to third.  A Northview wild pitch then allowed Baum to score from third.  The next three Centennial hitters, Andrew Short, Sean Muller and Stuart Mals, all singled.  By the time the dust settled on their half of the inning, the Knights had gone from being two runs down to having a two run lead over the Titans.
