Northview Baseball Wins Big Against Roswell

Titans celebrate Senior Day with 12-2 win over the Hornets.

It was Senior Day as the Northview Titans baseball team hosted the Roswell Hornets for a Region 6AAAAA contest on Tuesday.

The Titans jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when lead-off hitter Sean McLaughlin homered to left center field.

Northview held Roswell scoreless in the second inning and then went to work with its bats.  Titan pitcher Evan LaForge doubled and was replaced with a pinch runner.  Richie Valesquez singled, driving in the first run of the inning.  Chipper Cornwell followed with another double.  Then Preston Yancey, Tyler Krieger, and John Holland all hit safely while driving in runs for the Titans.  When the dust settled on the bottom of the second inning, Northview held a 7-0 lead over Roswell.

The Titans held the Hornets scoreless through the fourth inning.  The Titans then added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Roswell's Steven Sablich opened the fifth inning with a double and scored on an RBI single off of the bat of Thomas McCarter.  The Hornets picked up another run on a sacrifice fly to center field, but still trailed the Titans 10-2 going into the sixth inning.

In the bottom of the sixth, Northview's Richie Valasquez drove in two runs giving the Titans a 10-run lead at 12-2 and ending the game under the GHSA mercy rule.

The win puts Northview at 11-13 overall and 4-6 in Region 6AAAAA.  Roswell is 11-12 on the season and 5-6 in the region.
