Mount Pisgah Rallies to Take Win Over Pace Academy

Patriots defeat Knights 9-7 in Region 5A contest.

Through the first two innings of Saturday's baseball game between the Mount Pisgah Patriots and the Pace Academy Knights, the Patriots seemed to be in charge.  The Patriots picked up two unanswered runs in the first inning on a homer off the bat of right fielder Danny Schneider and another run in the second to give Mount Pisgah a 3-0 lead going into the third.

When Pace's second baseman Jared Datoc doubled in one run in the top of the third and another scored on an infield error, the Knights were right back in the game.  Pace scored four more runs in the fourth inning.  Mount Pisgah went scoreless in the bottom half of the inning.  It looked like the Knights had taken control at 6-3.

But monentum shifted again in the bottom of the fifth when the Patriots loaded the bases and second baseman Taylor Hammonds put a base-clearing grand slam homer over the left centerfield fence.  The Patriots picked up one more run in the inning to take a 8-6 lead into the sixth inning.
